Hello
My name is Abby, and I am an integrative psychotherapist, with many years of experience in private practice. I enjoy working in a warm and collaborative style, putting you and your needs at the heart of the process. I aim to offer you a healing experience, but I am also passionate about helping you to grow and develop in new ways.
How are you?
Maybe you've realised that something needs to change.
Maybe your past is holding you back.
Perhaps you're going through a crisis and you need support to help you cope.
Sometimes we get stuck in old patterns of behaviour or our thoughts get stuck in a loop and sometimes we struggle to let go. It can be hard to make changes by ourselves because we’re so used to doing the same old things and thinking the same old thoughts. Psychotherapy can offer a way of changing your perspective, letting go of old wounds and increasing your self-awareness so that you can make decisions with more clarity.
Treating you as a whole person
I work with a broad range of issues including, depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, identity, bereavement, loss and relationship difficulties. I am also able to work with people who have a diagnosed mental health condition.
However, I don’t consider myself a specialist in any particular area of therapy, because I believe in treating the whole person as an individual, not as a label or diagnosis. This means that all aspects of your life experience can be brought to therapy. You can set the pace and the agenda, and together we can explore whatever you wish.
Supporting healthy relationships
In my practice I emphasise the importance of relationships. Many people find relationships difficult, but therapy is an opportunity to learn a new pattern of relating, becoming less angry or defensive and more open to connecting with others in an honest and authentic way.
As your relationships with friends and family become healthier and happier, this can have a positive effect on your mental health and wellbeing. I aim to offer a safe and trustworthy therapeutic relationship so that you can feel secure in opening up and getting the most out of the process.
